Nigerian street-pop artiste, Portable, has stirred social media reactions after calling out Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over what he described as a “stingy” attitude during their previous meeting.

In a video making the rounds online, Portable claimed that when he met Peter Obi last year, the former Anambra governor only offered him a handshake and no financial gift — an act the singer considered selfish and unbecoming of someone aspiring to lead Nigeria.

“Peter Obi is very selfish. I met him and all he gave me was a handshake. If it were President Tinubu I met, he would have given me money,” Portable said in the clip.

The singer, known for his outspoken nature and dramatic public statements, criticized Obi’s frugality, arguing that leadership should be entrusted to individuals who are generous and capable of “spending on the people.”

He said: “he wants to become president and he’s stingy. Presidency should be for people who can spend. Thank God he didn’t win,” Portable added.

Recall that Portable and Obi crossed paths during an event last year, which made headlines due to the singer’s unpredictable conduct. However, details of their interaction remained largely under wraps until this new revelation.
