“We Are Back”: Iran Confirms Massive Missile Attack On Israel
By Gideon Ayeni
Tensions in the Middle East escalated dramatically as Iran officially launched a large-scale ballistic missile attack on Israel, striking what it described as “dozens of military centres and airbases” across the country.
The operation, which Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has named Operation True Promise 3, marks one of the most direct and intense confrontations between the two long-time adversaries in recent history.
According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), several waves of rocket barrages targeted major cities including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, with the night sky lit up by interceptors and explosions. Air raid sirens blared across central Israel, prompting widespread panic as civilians fled into bomb shelters.
In a striking shift of tone, Iran’s military posted “We are back” on its official X (formerly Twitter) account shortly after the offensive began — a stark contrast to an earlier post just hours prior, where they claimed, “We didn’t initiate it.”
The earlier post had drawn criticism, with many netizens pointing to Iran’s history of regional aggression. Some accused Tehran of hypocrisy, while others defended the country’s right to retaliate following Israeli strikes earlier this week that allegedly targeted senior Iranian figures and strategic sites.
The latest development signals a dangerous escalation in the region, raising fears of a broader conflict that could draw in other regional powers and global actors. World leaders are now urging restraint on both sides as diplomatic efforts scramble to contain the fallout.
