How Suspected Cable Thief Was Caught Stealing Transformer Wire At Midnight (Video)

A young man has been apprehended in a Nigerian community after he allegedly attempted to steal electric cables by cutting off the main wire connected to the community’s transformer around 2 a.m.
The incident, which left residents in complete blackout, was captured in a viral video shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The clip showed the suspect being confronted by furious locals who discovered the act after their power supply was suddenly disrupted.
According to an eyewitness, the suspect sneaked into the neighborhood under the cover of darkness and proceeded to cut the heavy-duty cable that supplies electricity to homes on the street, intending to cart it away.
“You cut the whole transformer wire say you wan carry am, na you get am?” one angry resident was heard shouting in the video. “E cut a whole big wire, e wan comot am.”

The residents, clearly enraged by the brazen act, revealed that the situation could have turned violent if law enforcement hadn’t been alerted in time. Police were reportedly called in and are now handling the case.
