Following the tragic crash of flight AI171, Air India has unveiled relief plans and assigned caregivers to every victim’s family, prioritizing compassionate support.

Air India has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic loss of 241 passengers and crew members aboard flight AI171.

The airline, in a solemn statement via its X handle, extended heartfelt condolences to the families, loved ones, and communities affected by the devastating incident.

In the wake of the tragedy, Air India confirmed it had established direct contact with the next of kin of all those onboard. Over 400 family members have since arrived in Ahmedabad, where dedicated teams are providing round-the-clock support and assistance. Each affected family has been assigned at least one personal caregiver to help them navigate the difficult period ahead.

“Our hearts are with the families, loved ones, and communities affected by the accident,” the airline said, reiterating its commitment to placing the well-being of grieving families as its highest priority.

Air India is working in close coordination with various Tata Group companies to ensure comprehensive care and assistance is extended to all bereaved families. The airline is also engaged with local and national authorities to facilitate the dignified handover of mortal remains and personal belongings, while supporting repatriation arrangements where necessary.

The process of returning the remains to families is currently underway, with arrangements being managed in full cooperation with state officials. Air India also acknowledged the overwhelming support from both Central and State Governments, thanking them for their steadfast involvement during the crisis.

Additionally, the airline expressed deep gratitude to the medical teams, faculty, and support staff at Civil Hospital and Rajasthan Hospital in Ahmedabad for their exceptional compassion and tireless service. A special note of appreciation was directed to colleagues from other Tata Group entities who have mobilized resources and manpower to aid in the response.

Air India reaffirmed its full cooperation with the ongoing investigation being conducted by relevant authorities. The airline stated that it will continue to provide verified updates as more information becomes available.
