Legendary Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has voiced his anguish and frustration over the ongoing killings in Benue State, calling for an immediate and collective response to end the bloodshed.

In an emotional video now trending online, the award-winning singer was seen seated beside his wife, Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, as he delivered a heartfelt plea for peace. His message came just days after reports emerged that over 200 people were massacred in fresh attacks in the state.

“My heart is heavy… terribly sad, terribly angry,” 2Baba began, his voice trembling with emotion. Struggling to contain his grief, the Benue-born singer said he could no longer comprehend the scale and frequency of violence ravaging his home state. “What is going on in my state? I cannot wrap my head around it.”

2Baba’s passionate message has struck a chord across the country, reigniting calls for urgent intervention. He condemned the apparent lack of effective response from those in power and demanded a united approach to tackle the crisis. “This has to stop, it has to stop,” he said firmly. “It has to involve everybody. Every stakeholder in this country, every stakeholder in Benue State.”

Sitting beside him in silent solidarity, Natasha Osawaru’s presence added political weight to the plea, symbolizing a unified stand between civic voices and government representatives.

The singer also took aim at repeated, yet ineffective, appeals to those in authority. “Every time we call on the governor, we call on the president… this thing is not funny anymore,” he said, his tone reflecting the exasperation felt by many Nigerians witnessing the unending cycle of violence.
