By Benjamin Abioye

President Tinubu visited a hospital in Makurdi to meet survivors and discuss ways to end the violence in Benue following last week’s massacre of at least 59 persons in Yelewata.
President Bola Tinubu visited victims of a recent deadly attack in Yelewata, located in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, on Wednesday, June 18. The attack claimed the lives of over 59 people and left many others injured.

He arrived at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi around 12:58 p.m. and went straight to the hospital to see those who were hurt in the violence. After meeting with the injured, Tinubu moved to the new Banquet Hall at the Benue State Government House.
At the Government House, the President held a private meeting with important leaders and officials. They talked about the ongoing violent attacks in different parts of the state and how to stop them. The goal of the meeting was to find ways to bring lasting peace to the area.
During his visit, Tinubu also planned to meet with the families who lost loved ones, people who were forced to leave their homes, and community leaders who have been affected.

“We’re tired of condolences,” the Senate had earlier said, demanding stronger security efforts to end the bloodshed.
People who attended the meeting included the Governor of Benue State, other governors from the North-Central region, the National Security Adviser, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
