Kylian Mbappé Hospitalized

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has been hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis with the club closely monitoring his condition.

Real Madrid has confirmed that star forward Kylian Mbappé has been hospitalized after coming down with acute gastroenteritis.

The club shared the news in an official statement released on Thursday, saying they are closely watching his condition. At this point, it’s not clear how long he will be away from action.

In the words of the club, “Our player Kylian Mbappé presents an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been hospitalised to undergo various tests and receive the appropriate treatment.”

Meanwhile, besides the news of Mbappé being hospitalized, Real Madrid’s manager, Xabi Alonso, has reacted to his team’s 1-1 draw with Al Hilal in their first match of the FIFA Club World Cup, which took place on Wednesday at the Hard Rock Stadium in the United States.

Gonzalo Garcia scored for Madrid, while Ruben Neves got the equalizer for Al Hilal, leading to both teams sharing the points.

After the match, Alonso admitted that the team’s performance was below expectations, especially in the first half.

“We lacked a lot of things in the first half, both on and off the ball,” he said. “I asked the players at half time to be a little more patient with the ball, to stop rushing. We were definitely better in the second half.”

He explained that one of the problems was the team’s poor balance and control when they had possession.

“In the second half, we had longer phases of possession, we got closer to their box, it was better. It wasn’t enough, but it was better,” Alonso added.

Despite the draw, the manager was happy with the debut performances of new signings Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“I want to congratulate Dean and Trent for their debut. This is a special day for them, and they’ll be very important for us,” he said.
