Liverpool have opened negotiations with Napoli for a possible swap deal involving Victor Osimhen, with Darwin Núñez and Federico Chiesa being discussed as trade options.

Victor Osimhen had said he loves Galatasaray after a very successful loan spell where he helped the club defeat Mourinho’s Fenerbahce. Even though he impressed fans in Turkey, his future at Napoli seems close to ending.

He had an outstanding 2024-2025 season, scoring 37 goals and making 7 assists in 39 matches across all competitions. One of his most talked-about moments was an overhead kick against Antalyaspor, which was voted Turkish Super Lig Goal of the Season with 65.8% of the vote.

Despite several high-paying offers from Saudi Arabia, Osimhen wants to continue playing at a top level in Europe. One club reportedly offered him €50 million per year, after already turning down a €30 million offer. But Osimhen has made his stance clear.

“I love Galatasaray,” Osimhen said, showing his appreciation for the Turkish club.

With only one year left on his Napoli contract and after a breakdown in his relationship with the club last year, it is likely he will leave soon. Several big teams are already trying to sign him.

Liverpool is currently in talks with Napoli to sign Osimhen. They are not willing to pay the full release clause of £63 million, so they are exploring a swap deal. The deal could include Darwin Núñez, who had a difficult season, and Federico Chiesa, who has been struggling with injuries since leaving Juventus.

Juventus is also very interested in bringing Osimhen to their team. Their sporting director is said to be leading efforts to sign him as a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who may be sold. But due to limited finances, Juventus might try to pay in stages or offer player exchanges instead of paying the full €75 million fee.

Galatasaray is still hoping to keep Osimhen and have reportedly offered him a new contract worth up to €20 million per year.

Manchester United is back in the race after missing out on Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres. However, they are being careful about moving forward because Osimhen is asking for very high wages, possibly around £400,000 per week.

For now, Osimhen remains one of the most wanted players in Europe, and clubs across the continent are competing for his signature.
