Popular Pastor Earns Praise After Rejecting N30m Cash Gift From Comrade-Governor (Video)
By Gideon Ayeni
Pastor Paul Enenche, founder and senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has stirred national conversation after publicly declining a N30m gift from Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, during a high-profile crusade in the state.
The public rejection of the N30m cash gift during the Kebbi Healing and Deliverance Crusade, was captured in a now-viral video showing the moment the governor’s representative announced the donation, only for Pastor Enenche to politely but firmly reject it on ethical grounds.
Addressing the large crowd, the governor’s aide began by describing Dr. Idris as a “people’s governor and comrade,” before revealing the state’s decision to support the event with N30 million. “Before I leave this stage, I want to present the sum of N30 million,” the representative said.
However, Pastor Enenche immediately interjected, commending the governor’s generosity but declining the cash gift. “If there’s anything like orphanage, at your discretion, please apply this amount of money to it. No, no, it will not be received,” Enenche said, drawing a mix of surprise and applause from the audience.
Pastor Eneche emphasized that while he deeply appreciated the governor’s hospitality, the principles of his ministry do not permit accepting the N30m cash gift. “They don’t accept like that,” he added, referencing the ethical and spiritual considerations that guided his decision.

Pastor Eneche’s rejection of the N30m cash gift has since gone viral with diverse reactions online. Supporters hailed the Dunamis pastor’s refusal as a bold display of integrity and independence, especially at a time when many religious institutions are criticized for political compromise. Critics, however, questioned whether Pastor Eneche’s rejection of such a significant cash gift was practical, especially given the potential for the funds to support ongoing social projects tied to the ministry.
Despite the controversy, both Pastor Enenche and Governor Idris have maintained mutual respect, with the latter’s representative concluding, “We thank him [Enenche] for what he is doing in our state.”
