Don Jazzy has opened up about famous artistes he regrets not signing, including Davido and Simi, noting why those choices still haunt him.

The Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has said he regrets not signing some top Nigerian music stars when he had the chance.

He mentioned that he missed out on Simi, Teni, Davido, and Falz, even though he had opportunities to bring them on board.

While speaking in an interview with content creator Fisayo Fosudo, he reflected on these missed chances and was very open about his feelings.

He said:
“I like Simi, I didn’t sign her. I like Teni, I didn’t sign her. I had the opportunity of signing Davido, but I didn’t because I kind of figured that he would be fine. He had a rich family background. I also didn’t sign Falz. I don’t know, I think I was just being dumb.”

Don Jazzy also explained that he would have liked to sign Wizkid too, but another label got to him first.

He admitted that these decisions still bother him.
“Those are the artistes that I didn’t sign and I regret not signing,” he said.

Don Jazzy co-founded the now-closed Mo’Hits Records before starting Mavin Records in 2012. He is known for discovering and guiding many stars such as Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Johnny Drille.

Simi once auditioned for him but wasn’t picked. She later became popular with her hit song “Tiff” in 2014. Teni became famous through Dr Dolor Entertainment, while Falz rose through his own record label, Bahd Guys Records.

Don Jazzy also said he noticed Davido’s talent early on but assumed his rich background would help him grow without needing a record deal.

Even though he missed out on these big names, Don Jazzy still plays a major role in the growth of Afrobeats music through Mavin Records.
