Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has fired back at Senator Ned Nwoko after the politician described him as “jobless” for defending a young man who accused actress Regina Daniels of infidelity.

Omoyele Sowore’s support for Gabriel Timothy (popularly known as Tumma), came after he alleged that Ned Nwoko’s wife, Regina Daniels was involved with another man in Abuja.

Following the claim, he was reportedly arrested by the police after a petition was filed by her husband, Ned Nwoko, a move Sowore has challenged.

Sowore, in a strongly worded statement posted via his social media handles, condemned Tumma’s detention and vowed to secure his release, accusing Nwoko of using his political influence to silence critics.

“Senator @Prince_NedNwoko, I read that you said Gabriel Timothy (Tumma) would be jailed for 10 years without trial, and that I am jobless for defending him. Let me remind you—we got Jaruma out, we got young people from your village out when you unlawfully detained them at FCID in Abuja. Tumma will not be an exception,” Sowore said.

He added that his advocacy for human rights is a calling—not one that involves corruption, political manipulation, or exploitation of the vulnerable.

“I am proud to restore human dignity—a job that does not require embezzling public funds, engaging in shady land deals, or enriching myself at the expense of the poor,” Sowore said, taking a direct jab at the billionaire lawmaker.

The activist further revealed that he had previously rejected several invitations to meet Nwoko at his Abuja home, especially when Sahara Reporters—the media platform he founded—was exposing alleged irregularities in Nwoko’s malaria eradication foundation.

Sowore also accused Nwoko of being behind his 2022 arrest by the Abuja Police Command, claiming it was orchestrated shortly after a failed attempt to lure him into a private meeting.

“A generation must rise to end oppression. We will not tolerate injustice. #FreeTummaNow #RevolutionNow,” he declared.

As of press time, neither Ned Nwoko nor Regina Daniels has issued a new statement in response to Sowore’s rebuttal.
