By Gideon Ayeni

A heartwarming moment between Nigerian business executive Farooq Oreagba and the Alaafin of Oyo has gone viral online, as Oreagba was captured paying homage to the revered monarch in line with deep-rooted Yoruba cultural values.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Oreagba — famed for his striking fashion sense and recent spotlight at the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival was seen prostrating fully before the Alaafin of Oyo during a high-profile event. His act of humility and reverence has been hailed as a beautiful display of respect for royalty and tradition.
Oreagba, a cancer survivor and executive at NG Clearing Limited, has gained a loyal following for his bold agbada looks and tattoos, which blend traditional Yoruba fashion with contemporary flair. His presence at cultural events often draws attention, but it was his quiet gesture toward the Alaafin that stole the spotlight this time.
In the video, set against the backdrop of a regal gathering, Oreagba approaches the monarch and immediately goes down in a full prostration — the traditional Yoruba greeting for kings. The Alaafin, dressed in royal regalia and surrounded by aides, acknowledges the gesture with a warm smile and nod, embodying the grace and dignity of Yoruba royalty.
Moments later, Oreagba politely asks, “Can I take a picture with you?”, a request the Alaafin gladly grants. The two are then seen posing side by side, capturing a powerful image that reflects the harmony between modern influence and ancestral heritage.
