By Benjamin Abioye

Three teams were eliminated from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after late goals and missed chances ended their tournament hopes.
Three clubs have now been knocked out of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after tough losses in the group stage.
South Korea’s Ulsan HD were sent home after a 4-2 defeat by Brazil’s Fluminense in their second group match. Ulsan had already lost their opening game to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and needed a win to stay in the tournament.
Things looked promising at one point as Ulsan took a 2-1 lead. They even had a big chance to make it 3-1 when Um Won-sang found himself in a great position. But he missed the chance, and that mistake turned out to be costly. Fluminense came back strong, scoring several late goals to win the match and end Ulsan’s campaign.
Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds also crashed out after a narrow 2-1 loss to Italian club Inter Milan. The Japanese side had taken a 1-0 lead and held onto it deep into the second half. But Inter turned things around with late goals from Lautaro Martinez and Valentin Carboni, securing their spot in the next round and eliminating Urawa.
In addition to Ulsan and Urawa, other teams that have been eliminated from the expanded Club World Cup include Auckland City FC from New Zealand, and the American sides Los Angeles FC and Seattle Sounders.
The 2025 Club World Cup, taking place in the United States, continues to deliver big surprises and intense competition as teams from all over the world fight for glory.
