Video: How Rivers Administrator Was Beaten, Forced To Sign Resignation Letter
By Gideon Ayeni

Fresh controversy has erupted in Rivers State just two days after Hon. Goodluck Iheamnacho, the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, tendered his resignation.
A disturbing video now circulating on social media appears to show that Iheamnacho was physically assaulted and coerced into stepping down.
In the viral footage, Iheamnacho was seen being brutally beaten and humiliated by a group of unidentified men. Amid the violence, one of the attackers is heard shouting in Pidgin English: “Sign that thing immediately,” suggesting that the resignation may not have been voluntary as earlier claimed.
Watch the video below;
GWG.ng reports that Iheamnacho had submitted a resignation letter dated June 20, 2025, addressed to the State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.). In the letter, he cited personal reasons and a desire to return to the private sector.
“Sequel to the above subject matter, I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the Administrator of Ahoada East LGA. My decision is informed by my desire to return back to the private sector,” the letter read in part.
He also expressed appreciation to the Rivers State Government and the people of Ahoada East for the opportunity to serve from April 11 to June 20, 2025.
However, the emergence of the video has cast serious doubt on the legitimacy of the resignation, raising alarms over political intimidation and violence.
The Rivers State Government is yet to issue an official statement addressing the incident.
