Ganduje: Tinubu Gives Shocking Directive To APC
By Gideon Ayeni

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed the resignation of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and with it a directive from President Bola Tinubu on a choice of a temporary successor.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said Ganduje stepped down with immediate effect to “attend to urgent and important personal matters.”
The statement, dated June 27, 2025, noted that Ganduje had submitted his resignation through the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to lead the party.
According to the party, President Tinubu has directed Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), to take over as Acting National Chairman, pending the convening of a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to formally fill the vacancy.
GWG.ng reports that the supposed directive by President Tinubu on a choice of a temporary successor for Ganduje is bound to be received with concern over the autonomy of the party in taking its decisions.
Ganduje, a former two-term governor of Kano State, was appointed APC National Chairman in August 2023 following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu. His tenure saw several internal political challenges, but the party said he remained committed to unity and strengthening its democratic credentials.
“Throughout his tenure, he dedicated himself to strengthening Party unity and cohesion, expounding its democratic ideals, and enhancing the Party’s electoral competitiveness,” the statement read.
The party added that it was proud of Ganduje’s achievements, which include wooing members from opposition parties and securing judicial victories affirming the APC’s leadership legitimacy.
“We assure all Party faithful that we remain steadfast and unwavering in our mission to deliver transformative governance for all Nigerians, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement continued.
The APC’s National Working Committee also expressed its gratitude to Ganduje for his “invaluable contributions” and “distinguished record of service,” praying for his good health and success in future endeavours.
