“I Was Wrong About APC” – Rapper M.I Reflects
By Benjamin Abioye

M.I Abaga voiced regret for supporting APC, admitting the party failed to deliver the change he once believed it would bring.
Veteran Nigerian rapper, Jude Abaga, also known as M.I Abaga, has expressed regret for supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on the Menism podcast, M.I admitted that backing the party was a mistake and that the APC has failed to meet expectations since coming into power.
He explained that in 2015, he supported the APC because he believed the then-ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was deeply corrupt. According to him, his support for APC came from a genuine desire for positive change in the country.
“I tweeted about the thing [herdsmen attacks] that happened in Benue and a lot of people were saying, ‘But M.I, you supported the APC,’” he said. “Yes, I supported APC because at that time, I felt that the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of the people who lifted my voice to say, ‘Let us stand and bring in democracy.’”
He went on to admit that supporting the APC didn’t turn out as he had hoped. “As human being, no matter how much you try to be right, you will be wrong [sometimes]. APC unfortunately isn’t the APC of my dreams.”
M.I now says he is more focused on using his music and platform to work with other young people to help improve the country.
In a similar story, veteran Nollywood actor Lalude also shared his disappointment over campaigning for President Bola Tinubu.
In a video seen on social media, he complained that during the 2023 campaign, he and other actors were paid only ₦10,000 daily for food. Two years after Tinubu became president, he said they have not received any further benefits or compensation.
