Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has shared his feelings about the ongoing conflict with his former labelmate, Blackface.

In an interview with media personality Nedu, 2Baba said that although they collaborated on songs, he wrote most of their popular hits. 2Baba expressed confusion and hurt over Blackface’s repeated online attacks against him.

2Baba said, “It was a collaboration. I wrote most of the songs, actually, but we wrote it together. I’m not somebody who comes and starts dragging words. I don’t know what his intentions were, and I don’t know what I have ever done to him.” He also mentioned that he has always treated Blackface with respect, but Blackface has continuously tried to damage his reputation. “They are absurd, ridiculous and very painful at times. And, till today, I just wonder why? That’s the only thing I have in my head. What’s the reason, it’s just ridiculous.”

In another part of the interview, 2Baba talked about his recent separation from his wife of more than ten years, Annie Macaulay.

The singer, who married Annie in May 2012, announced their divorce in January 2025 and also revealed his new relationship with Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.

Speaking on the 234 Mzansi Podcast, 2Baba explained that they tried hard to save their marriage but eventually agreed to separate because it was not working. Although he did not go into specific details, he described Annie as an amazing woman and said no one should feel forced to stay in an unhappy marriage.

He also shared his view on relationships, saying it is biologically impossible for men to be sexually committed to just one woman.
