Damilola Marshal, daughter of Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (popularly known as K1 De Ultimate), has reacted to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s (FAAN) claims that her father attempted to board a flight with alcohol, describing the accusation as false and absurd.

Taking to Instagram Stories on Thursday, Damilola posted a screenshot of K1’s official statement refuting the allegation and doubled down on the claim that the flask in question contained only water.

“I don’t know why a reputable agency will lie that water is alcohol. I don’t know when K1 became a magician that turns water into alcohol,” she wrote.

She also posted a video clip showing her father on a different day, carrying the same black flask, arguing that it’s a regular part of his routine. “With the same flask. All of a sudden everyone is pretending as if they don’t know he carries his water in his flask everywhere,” she added.

The backlash stems from a FAAN report alleging that K1 caused a disturbance at the Murtala Muhammed Airport on Tuesday while attempting to board ValueJet flight VK201. FAAN claimed the singer tried to board with an “alcoholic substance” in a flask, refused to cooperate with airport staff, and allegedly poured the contents on a security official.

K1’s camp, however, says the report is not only misleading but “exaggerated,” explaining that the flask contained drinking water given to him at the lounge.

But the incident has spiraled into a bigger controversy.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), in response to the FAAN memo and following its own preliminary findings, slapped a six-month flying ban on the Fuji maestro. The directive means K1 will not be able to board any domestic flights within Nigeria for the period.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the ban in a statement on his verified social media handles. According to him, “preliminary findings indicate there was a temporary loss of sanity on the part of the passenger concerned.”

Keyamo said K1’s actions escalated after he was told the plane might depart without him. In what he described as “equivalent to a hostage situation,” the music legend allegedly ran onto the tarmac and stood in front of the aircraft to prevent it from leaving.

As a consequence, the minister ordered that K1 be placed on a no-fly list. He also warned airlines not to flout the ban, threatening license suspension or outright revocation for any that fail to comply.
