Things To Know About Female ValueJet Pilot Who Stood Up To K1

The identity of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, the ValueJet pilot at the centre of the heated Abuja airport incident involving Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as K1 De Ultimate, has been revealed and social media is buzzing.

The controversy erupted after K1 was reportedly barred from boarding ValueJet’s Flight VK201 to Lagos on Tuesday, over claims he attempted to carry alcohol in a thermoflask — something prohibited by the airline.

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the singer refused to comply when warned and allegedly poured the drink on a crew member during the altercation.

The situation escalated when a viral video showed K1 on the tarmac, walking dangerously close to a moving aircraft in what appeared to be an attempt to stop it from taking off.

Following the incident, ValueJet suspended Captain Ogoyi and her co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba, over alleged safety breaches during the tense encounter.

Fondly called “Rantilicious” by friends, Captain Ogoyi is the daughter of former Osun Central senator Felix Kola Ogunwale, who served in the National Assembly between 2003 and 2007.

With over 10 years of experience in the skies, she began her flying career at Arik Air before joining ValueJet. In September 2021, she earned her captain’s stripes in a promotion ceremony graced by industry heavyweights, including current NCAA Director General, Captain Chris Najomo.

Captain Ogoyi is married to fellow pilot Isaac Ogoyi Jr., whose career has taken him through Arik Air, RwandAir, and now Uganda Airlines.
