Comfort Emmanson story

Miss Comfort Emmanson, the young woman at the centre of the controversial altercation with an Ibom Air flight attendant, has finally broken her silence with her story — insisting she was provoked and humiliated after being warned by the hostess that she would “see” what would happen to her.

In an emotional post on her Instagram page (@soft_commy), where she narrated her story of the incident in detail, Comfort Emmanson said the confrontation began after she struggled to switch off one of her phones during pre-flight procedures on the August 10 Uyo–Lagos flight.

According to her, the flight attendant, identified as Juliana Edwards, became impatient and mocked her, telling her “children nowadays…” before allegedly warning her: “You will see.”

“I didn’t take it to heart because I had already switched off my phones,” she said. “But the way she looked at me was very bad. I didn’t know she meant I would suffer for it later.”

Continuing her story, Comfort Emmanson explained that upon landing in Lagos, she went to use the bathroom since her seat was located at the back of the aircraft. But when she returned and attempted to disembark, the hostess allegedly blocked her path even though all other passengers had already disembarked.

“When I tried to go, she blocked the way and was staring at me. That was when I brought out my phone and recorded her… immediately she saw that I was filming, she dragged me back inside, pulled off my frontal wig, cut my chain and broke my phones,” she recounted.

She added that the attendant allegedly called her a prostitute and assaulted her repeatedly, leaving her bruised and traumatised.

“It was the pain of my frontal being dragged out and the insult of calling me a prostitute that made me react and poke her,” she explained. “God knows I wouldn’t do that to an elderly woman for nothing.”

Comfort Emmanson said the situation escalated as male staff arrived and surrounded her inside the aircraft, forcibly dragging her and attempting to pin her down while someone recorded the scene — a clip that later circulated on social media raising the story to another level.

According to her, the viral video, which showed her exposed during the scuffle, has caused her untold trauma and embarrassment.

“I cannot even go out anymore… People are using my body as stickers on social media. I’m into real estate — imagine going to meet a client and they already saw my nakedness online,” she lamented.

The young woman thanked Nigerians who stood by her while she was in detention and said she only decided to speak now because she has been receiving treatment and needed time to recover.

“I am not a nuisance. I never refused to switch off my phone,” she said.
