Video: Debate Erupts As Man Reveals He Gave Jobless Wife ₦3m For BBL
By Benjamin Abioye
A Nigerian man has stirred controversy after revealing during a live interview with broadcaster Daddy Freeze that he gave his wife ₦3 million to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) instead of investing the money in business or property.
In the livestream, the man explained that he had offered his wife the money with the suggestion that she either put it into her business or invest in land in Abuja. However, she insisted on undergoing the cosmetic surgery.
“I told her, do you want to put it in your business or should we buy land in Abuja where it will appreciate in the next two or three years? She told me she wanted to use it to do BBL, that she knows why she wants to do that,” he said.
Freeze, surprised, questioned the rationale behind funding such a decision.
“How are you going to give your wife money to go do BBL? Your wife wey no get work. What does she want to use the BBL for? She wants to sell markets,” the media personality asked.
The man, however, defended himself, insisting he had always given his wife freedom of choice.
“I have always been somebody that gives her free will. I have always told her, do whatever that matters to you. Be happy. Make your choices,” he added.
Public reaction was swift, with many Nigerians berating the man for what they saw as poor judgment.
Dr Tambari wrote, “This man should be ashamed of himself. Your wife wanting to do BBL is a sign that she needs external validation. In all you do, do not be a weak man.”
Another user, Mr Dave Chigozie, added, “Her eyes dey outside and what’s pushing her outside is greater than what is keeping her in the marriage. Keep giving your wife free will, that’s a sign of poor leadership.”
Sir Khai questioned the man’s account. “What if this man is lying? I mean, which woman will tell her husband she wants to do BBL? She had better tell a lie to do something else other than BBL.”
Others were less forgiving. One user said, “This mumu man should go learn from gehgeh Uni,” while another mocked, “Omo you and your wife dey ment.”
Several users argued that allowing a wife without a source of income to undergo BBL was reckless. Nick wrote, “Them dey give woman freedom to do whatever she wants? Unless you don’t want your marriage to last. You have to dictate to her certain things that should be in position. Else na this thing go happen to you.”
Another user, Jose Maria, mocked his statement about free will. “It’s because of people like this that some Benin people say ‘instead make I born ozuor (mumu), make I born thief.’ Simps will always see hell.”
OmoBenDel commented, “This one na bobonice, dem full everywhere, dem do the spending while others do the chopping.”
Some pointed out that his wife’s action could signal deeper issues. One wrote, “It means she wants to prostitute herself, she wants external validation, simple. Baba assist en wife into prostitution.”
Bryth said, “You like big bum-bum but didn’t marry the one that has one. You’re paying for BBL. If foolishness was a person.”
Others described the man as having “low IQ” and being a “fool” for discussing it openly. Buster Xbuster noted, “The fact that this man doesn’t have any atom of shame in discussing this on the Internet makes me rejoice on the girl’s behalf. Doesn’t this man deserve 1000% of what the wife did to him?”
Not everyone agreed with the harsh tone. Ajigijaga argued, “He didn’t give his wife money to do BBL. He gave his wife money to support her business and she used it to do BBL. These statements are not the same and y’all need to learn to report stories exactly the way they happen.”
Still, the majority saw his decision as careless. One simply put it, “Mumu say e give women free will, who told you women don’t want to be controlled and led?”
The viral interview has since reignited heated debate online about marriage, money management, and the rising popularity of cosmetic surgery among Nigerian women.
