How Gov Soludo Will React To Body Odour Mockery

Senator Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in Anambra State has taken the political campaign to another dimension with her claim that Governor Charles Soludo reeks of body odour.

Her assertion came after the often sharp witted Governor Soludo questioned her doctorate degree.

In Nigeria’s political space, such comments don’t go unanswered. Here’s how Governor Soludo’s team is most likely to react if Senator Uche Ekwunife indeed described him as having “body odour” and “oozing mouth”:

1. Swift Denial and Reframing

Soludo’s media handlers will almost certainly dismiss Ekwunife’s remarks as cheap propaganda and “beneath political discourse.” They would stress that personal insults show desperation and weakness rather than serious debate on governance. Expect phrases like:

“This is gutter politics, unbecoming of a former senator.”

2. Counterattack on Record

Rather than respond directly to the “body odour” jibe, Governor Soludo’s team would turn the spotlight on Ekwunife’s political history — failed election bids, inconsistencies in party loyalty, and lack of achievements while in the National Assembly. They’d frame her as “a frustrated politician seeking relevance.”

3. Victim Narrative

Soludo’s camp may also present him as a victim of hate speech and character assassination, leveraging sympathy from the public. They could accuse Ekwunife of trying to “distract the governor from his transformational agenda” in Anambra.

4. Call for Decency in Politics

The team would likely appeal to higher ground, stressing the need for civility in politics. They’d argue that such comments degrade public discourse and insult the dignity of the office of governor. Religious and community leaders might even be invoked to condemn “reckless talk.”

5. Possible Legal/Party Angle

If Soludo’s camp wants to play hardball on the body odour jab, they could threaten legal action for defamation or petition the APC to caution her. While unlikely to go far, such a move signals seriousness.

In short: The governor’s team would mix dismissal, counterattack, and a high-ground appeal, turning Ekwunife’s personal insult into an opportunity to paint her as desperate while reinforcing Soludo’s image as a focused leader.
