Afrobeat superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has found himself trending online after a dramatic incident involving one of his security escorts.

In a video posted by the singer on his X page, the DMW boss was seen leaving the venue of a show as a large crowd of fans screamed “Davido, OBO!” while attempting to get close to him. Amid the chaos, one of his security men, identified as a soldier, mistakenly struck him on the head from behind.

Davido, who laughed off the incident, captioned the clip: “Mumu that was my security .. hit me by mistake .. saddist.”

The post immediately went viral and sparked heated reactions from fans and critics alike. While some hailed the singer for taking the incident in stride, others dragged him over his choice of words.

X user @Dr_Pharouk wrote: “OBO don dey online. We mount for you our 001. No musician comes close at all.”

However, @bhadboy_Andre criticized him, saying: “Bro you foolish gan wtf e say na sadist, person de talk true you de shade am. God forbid make person like you be my idol, na why Wizkid is forever better.”

Another user, @Toluwase_x, appealed: “My goat, stop dey call person mumu.”

Some turned the incident into comic relief. @writewithwisdom claimed: “Let me tell you what happened. I was there. The man came to my stall to bet that he would slap Davido and played the ticket 1000. The bet entered.”

Others dismissed the drama as unnecessary. @Chris_Web3_ advised: “Lmao. Stop responding to these clowns.”

The banter escalated with playful jabs. @Cfc_israel teased: “I hear the slap from outside, e too tap.” Another, @ItsNat3y, joked: “Why you no fit slap your security back? U for try am make your security beat you for there nau mumu.”

Meanwhile, some fans warned him to ignore online trolls. @BCraft_studio noted: “You don’t need to explain to people that want clicks nah.”

Despite the divided opinions, Davido’s video has once again highlighted the frenzy that often surrounds Nigerian celebrities and the pressures they face while trying to connect with their fans in public.
