By Gideon Ayeni
The Abia State Police Command has arrested two women in connection with the theft of two children from a church in Aba.
The suspects, identified as 58-year-old Louis Osueke and 42-year-old Esther Jude, were paraded on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the command headquarters in Umuahia by the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa.
According to Isa, the children — a six-year-old girl, Chidinma Uzochukwu, and a 10-month-old baby were abducted during a service at the Anglican Church in Okpuumuobo, Aba, on September 7.
“On September 17, at about 6:45 p.m., leveraging credible intelligence, our officers arrested the suspects. The children were safely rescued and have since been reunited with their family,” the Commissioner said.
The suspects, both natives of Imo State, are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Isa assured that the command remains committed to protecting children in the state and warned against acts of abduction or trafficking.
