A Magistrate Court in Kano has ordered the remand of popular TikTok content creator, Ashiru Idris, also known as Mai Wushirya, in a correctional facility. This decision comes after videos featuring a dw+rf woman in indecent acts circulated online.

The case, presided over by Magistrate Halima Wali of Court No. 7, mandates that the TikToker remain in custody for two weeks pending further hearing.

Officials of the Kano State Censorship Board apprehended Mai Wushirya last week after clips showing him shirtless and engaging in what authorities described as “imm+ral and deme+ning acts” went viral. The Board stated that the content violated the state’s censorship laws, which prohibit the creation or distribution of obscene or sexually suggestive material.

Following the court’s ruling, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, confirmed that the judge also ordered the woman featured in the videos to appear at the next hearing.

“The court directed that his partner be brought before it at the next sitting. Before his arraignment, we had asked him to assist in locating her, but he refused. Now that there’s a court order, we are optimistic she will be found,” Sulaiman said.

He added that the woman is believed to have fled to Zamfara State, but efforts are ongoing to ensure her return to Kano to face trial alongside Mai Wushirya.
