From Promises To Performance: GOCOP 2025 Sets Agenda In Lagos
All is set for the ninth edition of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) Annual Conference, themed “Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects.”
In a statement signed by GOCOP Publicity Secretary, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, the Conference Planning Committee Chairman and GOCOP Deputy President, Danlami Nmodu, mni, confirmed that arrangements have been concluded for a highly impactful, well-attended event designed to generate practical insights and strategies for bridging the gap between campaign rhetoric and governance outcomes in Nigeria and across Africa.
The programme will feature a keynote address followed by a high-level panel of seasoned voices in media, governance, and policy. The conference will be chaired by Chief Bode George, former Governor of Old Ondo State and former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, while the keynote will be delivered by Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and immediate past Governor of Katsina State.
Panel discussants include Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, Director, Institute of Continuing Education, UNILAG, and Alhaji Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA).
Nmodu noted that the GOCOP Conference has evolved into a credible platform for dialogue among online publishers, policymakers, and industry leaders, advancing the Guild’s mission to promote responsible and ethical journalism in the digital age. He recalled that past editions have featured notable personalities such as Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah; Mr. Boss Mustapha, former SGF; Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman; Prof. Uche Uwaleke; and former Governor Liyel Imoke, who offered critical perspectives on national issues from security and the economy to elections and digital transformation.
With over 120 member-organisations, GOCOP brings together publishers, editors, and senior journalists who have transitioned from traditional media to online platforms, upholding the values of credibility, accuracy, and professionalism in digital journalism.
Nmodu emphasized that GOCOP 2025 presents strategic sponsorship and partnership opportunities for brands seeking meaningful engagement with influential media leaders, policymakers, and corporate decision-makers.
