Former Vice President and presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the resignation of Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, describing it as a “whitewash” of the alleged forgery scandal.

In a statement on his X handle on Wednesday, Atiku said the development exposes a “deep moral crisis” within the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. He argued that Nnaji should not have been allowed a quiet exit through resignation but should have faced immediate dismissal and prosecution for deceit.

“By permitting him to quietly exit through the backdoor, the Tinubu administration has once again demonstrated that it is an assembly of forgers, impostors, and morally bankrupt individuals masquerading as public servants,” Atiku said.

He further criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) for clearing Nnaji, questioning the agency’s credibility given its previous screening of other public officials. “Their failure of due diligence has made Nigeria an object of ridicule before the world and raises the question: how many more of such individuals are occupying sensitive positions in this government?” Atiku asked.

The former vice president tied the issue to the leadership of President Tinubu, pointing to past controversies over his academic records and identity. “When a man of questionable identity leads a country, deception becomes the standard of governance. Tinubu’s personal history of alleged forgery and perjury has effectively institutionalized falsehood in public service,” he stated.

Atiku called for an independent, transparent, and comprehensive investigation into the credentials of all members of the Federal Executive Council, starting with President Tinubu. “Nigerians deserve to know the truth about those who preside over their lives and resources,” he said.

He warned that until such accountability measures are enforced, the nation would continue to face moral decay, economic challenges, and global embarrassment. “The time has come to rescue our country from the grip of deceit and restore integrity to public life,” Atiku concluded.
