Veteran Nollywood actress, Ireti Doyle, has opened up on why she decided to step away from social media for some time.

The actress, who had been absent from Instagram for over a month, quietly returned on Thursday, October 9, 2025, and shared her reasons with fans.

In a heartfelt post, she explained that the constant negativity and rising toxicity online had become overwhelming for her spirit.

She wrote: “I used to wonder what I’d do with myself once I became an ‘empty nester.’ Now I know. Had to disappear again… The streets of SM (nay, the world in general) are becoming too toxic for my quiet soul. How have you been? I hope you’re protecting yourself. Peace. #EmptyNest #AnotherSoloTrip #Abundance #Ease #Flow.”

Ireti also encouraged her followers to look after themselves and protect their peace in the middle of the online noise.

Meanwhile, comedian and actor Julius Agwu has been thrown into mourning following the passing of his mother.

The entertainer announced the sad news on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, where he shared an emotional throwback video of one of their happiest moments together.

In the clip, Julius sneaked up on his mother while she was busy on her farm. She screamed in surprise and joy when she turned around, and the two hugged warmly as he proudly said, “This is my mother.”

Breaking the news, he wrote: “My dearest mother has gone to be with the Lord. Mama Gee, you will be dearly missed. Rest in peace.”

Close family sources revealed that Mrs. Agwu passed away after a short illness, and the family has begun private burial plans.

Since the announcement, friends, colleagues, and fans have flooded Julius’ page with messages of sympathy, offering prayers and comfort to the grieving comedian.

Julius, who survived a major health scare in 2015 after a brain tumour surgery, has often spoken about his mother’s prayers and steadfast support during his recovery.

Her passing is another painful loss for Nollywood in recent months. In September, actress Mercy Aigbe lost her mother, Mrs. Abisola Owodunni, while in August, actor Odunlade Adekola also mourned the death of his father, Pastor N. A. Adekola, sharing a moving tribute online.
