Lady Insists On Marrying Only A Man Who Speaks In Tongues (Video)

A young Nigerian lady has sparked a wave of reactions online after declaring that she would never marry a man who cannot speak in tongues.

In a trending TikTok video, the lady, identified as Amaka, was asked what could make her reject a man. Without hesitation, she responded that any man who does not speak in tongues would be immediately disqualified.

According to her, being filled with the Holy Spirit and actively involved in church activities are essential qualities she expects from her future husband.

She explained:
“A man who doesn’t speak in tongues, who doesn’t belong to any society or department in the church, he won’t be loyal. That man won’t be loyal. That man who speaks in tongues, who belongs to one department in the church, will be faithful and spirit-filled. That’s why there are a lot of failed marriages today in our societies, because why get married to a man who doesn’t speak in tongues, who doesn’t belong to any society in church? If you don’t speak in tongues, you can’t get married to me. That’s like a no-no.”

When asked if speaking in tongues should really be a condition for marriage, Amaka maintained her position.

“Personally, yes. I’m a Christian, and for you to marry me, that should be a criterion. Yes!” she added confidently.

Her statement has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many expressing diverse opinions about her stance.

@AyinLa shared a different view, saying: “That’s not a good line of thought! I agree that church service teaches loyalty and patience, but it doesn’t mean someone who serves in church or speaks in tongues will be faithful.”

@Double Dee also reacted humorously: “One werey dey force me to speak in tongue. Like I don’t feel like. I thought it’s related to the Holy Spirit or something, but he said I should just be speaking gibberish.”

@Chichi added: “Them go still speak in different tongues to deceive you.”

And @Phayekjnr questioned her belief, saying: “So you mean speaking in tongues makes a man loyal? Lol.”

@stephen wrote: “Hope say una know say even Jesus no speak in tongues.”

@B_o_l_d commented: “I don’t even like a girl who goes to church or is religious.”

The video continues to attract comments, with many social media users debating whether spirituality should be a requirement for marriage or if other values like character and commitment should come first.

She said she can’t marry a man who doesn’t speak in tongues and it’s a deal breaker for her. I was shocked at first, but at the same time, I realized everyone has their own perspective on what they want in a relationship. What are your thoughts on this?
