Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has once again stirred reactions online after sharing a rather unusual message he received from a woman asking him to help “lock up” her boyfriend.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) late Friday, Hundeyin uploaded a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation where the unidentified woman casually requested that her boyfriend be arrested without giving any valid reason or formal complaint.
Responding to her request, the outspoken police spokesperson used the opportunity to educate the public, emphasizing that arrests cannot be made arbitrarily.
He wrote:
“We are law-abiding, please. 🙄 We do not lock people up without legal basis.”

The post quickly gained traction on social media, amassing thousands of likes and comments within hours. Many users found the exchange hilarious, while others applauded Hundeyin for maintaining professionalism and shedding light on how due process works.
Some netizens jokingly suggested that “heartbreak” or “emotional damage” should be considered an arrest-worthy offense, while others warned against trivializing police procedures.
Hundeyin, known for his engaging presence on social media, has often used his platform to correct public misconceptions about policing, human rights, and law enforcement conduct in Nigeria.
