Popular Lagos Socialite, 100 Others Arrested At Midnight Drug Party
By Gideon Ayeni
The vibrant nightlife of Lagos took an unexpected twist in the early hours of Sunday after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stormed Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, arresting popular socialite, Pretty Mike, and several others.
According to NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the operation was based on credible intelligence about suspected drug-related activities taking place inside the club owned by Pretty Mike.
The raid, which reportedly occurred around 3 a.m., saw over 100 partygoers detained, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike.
Babafemi disclosed that NDLEA operatives had first infiltrated the venue around 11 p.m. on Saturday, closely monitoring the activities before moving in. During the raid, officers allegedly recovered various banned substances from both the guests and the club’s storage section.
“All those arrested have been taken into custody for screening, and anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in line with the law,” Babafemi said.
As investigations continue, the NDLEA is yet to disclose specific details about the substances recovered or the extent of charges that may follow.
