Alapini Osa Under Fire After U-Turn On Tinubu
By Benjamin Abioye
Veteran Yoruba actor Ganiu Nafiu, popularly known as Alapini Osa, has stirred widespread criticism after openly declaring his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration during a visit to Seyi Tinubu in Lagos.
The visit, attended by several figures from the entertainment industry, has sparked an intense online debate, especially given Alapini’s previous public attacks on both the President and his son. Months ago, the actor granted interviews where he harshly criticised the Tinubu family over governance and personal grievances, earning attention for his outspoken remarks.
However, during the latest meeting, Alapini took a different tone, describing Tinubu as “the best choice for Nigeria.” He also expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to steer the nation’s future, saying he now believes in “the direction the President is leading the country.”
Many Nigerians online were quick to react, questioning the actor’s sudden change of heart.
@bartholin41226 wrote, “Alapini don chop dodo. Nafiu won’t speak ododo any more.”
@kennychitown1 commented, “No blame them. Na hunger.”
Another user, @victorudsamson1, observed, “So Seyi don dey receive endorsement visit on Tinubu second term sake. Him papa newspaper even write businessman.”
@oladele92abiola expressed disbelief, writing, “Money has entered this man’s hands ooo, was he not the one they interviewed months back castigating Tinubu?”
@Olayemmyy added humorously, “Dem don later settle Alapini 😂😂.”
@Omoluabijnr recalled the actor’s past complaints, “No be same Alapini dey complain of being scammed or cheated.”
Some went further, questioning his integrity. “I know this idiot Alapini that uses all his savings to play baba ijebu. When he loses again, he’ll do another interview,” @achieverwealth wrote.
Others mocked the narrative of endorsement visits. “Na business mogul nna suppose use sef. Business man too small,” said @RamonTaiwoU.
@TheRealMakinde1 observed, “It seems Alapini does not wish to be dia, the look on his face tho.”
A frustrated @jaypee33128408 commented, “That’s why I don’t respect Yoruba elders. They can misbehave.”
@ade0681 said, “Alapini go quiet now abi?” while @KayodeAgunloye4 asked pointedly, “Political support for what?”
Others hinted that financial inducement may have influenced the actor’s new position. “Money has exchanged hands,” wrote @Cammystan1, while @Cristybobo summed up the sentiment: “Hunger is not a good thing.”
The sudden shift in Alapini’s tone has reignited discussions about celebrity endorsements and the perceived role of economic hardship in shaping public loyalty. Despite the backlash, sources said the meeting was part of broader outreach efforts involving entertainers ahead of the 2027 elections.
