Real Madrid came out on top in a tense and dramatic El Clásico, beating Barcelona 2–1 at the Santiago Bernabéu to move ahead in the La Liga title race.

The night had everything — disallowed goals, VAR drama, and tempers flaring — as both sides fought fiercely for control. Madrid started on the front foot, with Kylian Mbappé’s early strike ruled out for offside after a lengthy review. The Frenchman didn’t have to wait long to make amends, though, calmly finishing from close range after neat build-up play involving Jude Bellingham.

Barcelona grew into the game and were rewarded when Fermin Lopez fired home an equaliser, finishing a quick move started by Marcus Rashford. For much of the first half, the visitors dominated possession and looked sharper, but they struggled to break down Madrid’s disciplined defence.

Madrid found their rhythm again after the break. Bellingham, relentless in midfield, popped up at the right time to tuck in Madrid’s second after confusion in the Barcelona box. The goal lifted the Bernabéu, and from that moment, Real took control.

The final minutes turned chaotic. Pedri was sent off for a rash challenge deep into stoppage time, while Andriy Lunin was booked for dissent as emotions ran high. Barcelona pushed until the last whistle, but Madrid held firm.

The result leaves Carlo Ancelotti’s men sitting top of La Liga, while Barcelona are left to reflect on missed chances and another bruising defeat against their fiercest rivals.
