Amid the latest controversy surrounding his marriage to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko has reignited debate over polygamy, saying he feels sorry for men who have only one wife.

The lawmaker representing Delta North made the remark during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, where he argued that polygamy offers men “stability and balance” in family life.

“I feel sorry for those who have one wife,” Senator Nwoko who is reported to have as many as four or five wives. “Just imagine standing on one leg — it’s difficult. But with two, three, or four, you’re more balanced,” Nwoko said.

When reminded that the New Testament does not endorse multiple marriages, the senator replied, “The Old Testament does. I am a man of faith. But that’s not what we are here for.”

Nwoko, who is married to multiple wives including Regina Daniels, maintained that he has no regrets about his marital choices.

“No, I don’t have any regret. I would do the same thing again. You should marry who you want to marry,” he stated.

Addressing recent allegations of domestic tension, Nwoko dismissed claims of violence in his household as “false and unfounded.”

“I am not a violent person. I respect my wives and love them and my kids,” he said.

His comments follow public reactions to Regina Daniels’ social media post unveiling a new mansion captioned, “In my house, I am a queen.”
