Mohbad’s Widow Mocks As SAN Withdraws From Father-in-Law’s DNA Case
By Gideon Ayeni
The widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has spoken out following the withdrawal of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Dr. Wahab Shittu, from representing her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, in the ongoing DNA case involving her son, Liam.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, Wunmi expressed hope that the repeated withdrawal of lawyers from the case was a clear sign that the truth cannot be twisted or manipulated.
“Another lawyer, a whole SAN, has withdrawn,” she wrote. “You can get as many lawyers as you want from anywhere in the world; one thing that’s certain is that you can’t manipulate this DNA.”
She emphasized that she and her legal team have been fully compliant with the court’s directives since the matter began, adding that those pushing for the DNA test were the ones causing unnecessary delays.
“We have never opposed a DNA test. We showed up, we waited, we followed the law,” she said. “No one can manipulate the court, and no one can manipulate science.”

Her reaction came shortly after Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN) released an official statement announcing that his law firm, W.K. Shittu & Co., had withdrawn from handling the case.
According to him, the decision became necessary following persistent falsehoods and social media claims suggesting attempts to influence the DNA outcome.
Dr. Shittu explained that the withdrawal was made “in the path of honour, integrity, and professionalism,” stressing that his firm had “no personal interest in the outcome.”
He also called for a transparent process that involves reputable DNA centres either within or outside Nigeria, noting that his firm’s withdrawal only applied to the DNA proceedings and not to other legal matters.
The withdrawal marks yet another twist in the high-profile case that has continued to draw national attention since Mohbad’s untimely death.
Wunmi, however, ended her post with a firm declaration of her faith in justice. “Let the truth speak for Liam, for Mohbad, and for justice. November 11 is around the corner. We will be there,” she wrote.
