The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has stirred widespread debate after claiming he personally spent over ₦756m to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign.

In a viral video, the Lagos transport figure and close ally of President Tinubu insisted the money came solely from his pocket, saying no funds were provided from Abuja.

He said: “I spent ₦756 million of my own money during the campaign. Nobody from Abuja gave me a dime. I paid for hotels and took care of everyone working day and night for Asiwaju’s victory.”

MC Oluomo disclosed that he booked 140 hotel rooms at ₦45,000 per night for four months and also covered allowances and logistics for Nollywood stars and other supporters involved in campaign activities. He added that preparations for the 2027 polls have already begun, promising even more commitment to ensure Tinubu’s re-election.

The claims have triggered a wave of criticism, questions, and mockery on social media, with many Nigerians querying the source of such funds and calling for an investigation.

User @MarvellousIsra3 wrote, “Believe this at your own peril 😂 Let’s be serious — 756 million naira just on hotels?… If this story was true, EFCC would have invited him for tutorials on cash flow management.”

@Abdulsalam5476 reacted, “He is a liar… If MC Oluomo could publicly say he spent that kind of amount, what is the work of the EFCC? Can’t they start an investigation on how he got that money?”

@ItsCletuss_ said, “756 million on hotels? 😭 Some states don’t even get that much for development projects…”

@IkennaOkeh lamented, “You go dey abroad, dey hustle to earn €30k every year… but one person for Naija… go just burn over €400k like say nothing dey happen.”

@prince_Dort asked, “My question is, what does he do for a living? And how much does he earn per month to afford such an amount of money?”

@jr_tnd wrote, “What work is he doing that he has 750million? This is something an anti-corruption agency should jump on… if we were a serious country.”

@Blockbaleen said, “Make he just open a course on ‘How to make campaign money multiply by grace.’ 💀😂”

@LoveLove4104 commented, “Where did he get the money that he is spending? He got it from the system and he spent it to maintain the system.”

@honiseymoh stated, “If you live in Lagos, and take public transport, just know your money is part of the 756m he used…”

@orebobo queried, “756m spent and no one is investigating his source of income!”

@queenB0fficial asked, “Who Dey the 140 rooms? Why host them 4 months? Money na water 😪”

@echoeofself wrote, “I pity those expecting much from the government that’s presently running the country.”

@Jessejid alleged, “He camped election riggers and APC tout in hotel for 3 months with tax payers money.”

@Emperorkovic tagged authorities saying, “@officialEFCC Hope you’re watching this video?”

The development has renewed calls for transparency in political financing, especially regarding individuals without clearly defined business structures who claim to spend huge sums during elections.
