Drama As Ijaw Youth Council Factional President Surrenders Under Torture (Video)

Tension is brewing in Bayelsa politics after a disturbing video surfaced online showing Alaye Tari Theophilus, a local politician, being assaulted and forced to renounce his position as Victoria Council president.
In the viral clip, Theophilus is seen lying flat on the ground, covered in dirt, visibly in pain as onlookers surround him. Voices can be heard taunting him and demanding, “Who is Victoria Council president?”
Barely able to speak, the battered politician responds, “Jonathan Lokpobiri,” effectively denouncing his position under duress.

Sources say the incident followed a violent confrontation between rival factions vying for control of the council. The faces of those who attacked him were not visible in the footage, but witnesses allege they were loyalists of a rival contestant.
The shocking scene has drawn outrage online, with many condemning the increasing trend of violence and intimidation in Nigeria’s local political contests.
As of press time, authorities are yet to issue an official statement or confirm whether any arrests have been made in connection with the assault.
