A police officer attached to the Isanlu Area Command in Kogi State has allegedly assaulted an ECWA pastor, identified as Pastor Ayuba Dauda, leaving him hospitalized after a brutal beating.

According to reports shared on ECWA Nationwide Gist via Facebook, Pastor Dauda, who serves as a missionary with House of Peace Ministry, Isanlu DCC, was attacked on Thursday, October 30, 2025, while returning from Gada Market, where he had gone to purchase bags of maize for children under his care at the ministry.

Eyewitnesses said the officer, identified as an Inspector stopped the pastor along the road and allegedly demanded money from him. Pastor Dauda, who was reportedly in the middle of a conversation with an okada rider helping him transport the maize, told the officer he would return shortly.

However, this response seemed to anger the officer, who allegedly began hurling insults at the pastor before physically assaulting him. The beating reportedly left the clergyman severely injured, and he was later admitted to ECWA Comprehensive Health Centre, Isanlu, for treatment.

A photo circulating on social media shows the injured pastor lying on a hospital bed while the police officer believed to have assaulted him is seen seated nearby.

As of press time, neither the Kogi State Police Command nor the Isanlu Area Command has issued an official statement regarding the incident.
