Drama Reloaded! Man Slapped By Girlfriend At Lagos Wedding Speaks (Video)

The viral story of the bridesmaid who slapped her boyfriend during a surprise proposal at a Lagos wedding has taken a new twist, as the man involved has come forward to share his side of the story.

Recall that the incident, which happened on Saturday, November 1, 2025, during a wedding reception in Ikeja, had stirred massive reactions online after a video showed the woman slapping her boyfriend who went down on one knee to propose while she was giving a speech.

The lady later defended her action, claiming she had previously told him she wasn’t ready for a long-distance relationship and accused him of trying to “emotionally manipulate” her by staging a public proposal. According to her, his act was an attempt to embarrass her, so she decided to “embarrass him instead.”

However, in a fresh development, the man has come out to debunk her claims, saying she lied about not being in a relationship with him.

In a video now circulating online, the visibly upset man revealed that the woman was the one who suggested he relocate to Lagos in the first place. He added that she also encouraged him to invest in a shop with her. A venture they had both agreed to fund.

He said, “She’s saying we were not dating? This same person told me to move to Lagos because she wanted us closer. She also brought up the idea of opening a shop together, and we both put money into it. Now she’s acting like I’m some random guy who embarrassed her in public.”

The man further demanded that she return the money he invested in their supposed business and hand over all related documents.

The situation has since set the social media apart with netizens taking sides. While some sympathized with the man, calling out the woman for being “dishonest and dramatic,” others maintained that public proposals are risky and that no one deserves to be ambushed emotionally.
