A tragic incident occurred in Jaipur, India, on Saturday, November 1, as a 9-year-old girl identified as Amaira died after reportedly jumping from the fourth floor of Neerja Modi School, a private institution in the city.

According to police reports, CCTV footage from the school captured the heartbreaking moment Amaira climbed over a railing and jumped while other students nearby appeared to go about their normal activities. The fall proved fatal.

Police said early findings point toward a suspected suicide, though the exact reason behind her action remains unclear.

Amaira, a Class 4 student, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after the fall, but doctors sadly confirmed her death on arrival, according to Mansarovar Station House Officer (SHO) Lakhan Khatana.

However, police say they met a strange scene upon arriving at the school — the area where the girl fell had reportedly been cleaned, with no visible bloodstains left at the spot.

Her distraught parents have since filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the school administration, alleging their daughter’s death occurred under suspicious circumstances. They are demanding a full probe into the roles of teachers and staff, questioning how such a tragic incident could happen within the supposedly secure school premises.

The school has remained silent since the incident. Officials from the district education department said the school management failed to cooperate with authorities and even refused to provide contact information for the school principal.

“They completely disregarded the education department. The representative of Principal Indu Dave did not even answer our calls,” said Ram Niwas Sharma, District Education Officer.

Amaira was the only child of her parents. Her mother works in a bank, while her father is employed at a private company. The family lives in the SFS area under the Mansarovar police division. They filed the FIR about six hours after the incident, once post-mortem procedures were completed.

The SHO confirmed that investigations are ongoing, adding that the true cause of Amaira’s death will be determined after a full inquiry.
