The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) family has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi, the last son of the church’s founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi. He was 63.

According to a report by Church Times Nigeria, Pastor Ifeoluwa passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, about 45 years after his father’s death and barely seven months after the passing of his elder brother, Pastor Kolade Akindayomi, who died on May 4 at 75.

A close family source described his death as shocking and completely unexpected, revealing that the cleric appeared to be in perfect health the day before his passing.

“Nobody would have thought he would die barely 24 hours after he chaired a wedding ceremony,” the source said. “He was very okay and showed no sign of any illness. The unexpected just happened.”

Explaining how it happened, the source noted that Pastor Ifeoluwa had gone for his usual early morning prayer walk on Sunday before returning to his home at the RCCG Camp. While preparing for the Sunday service, he reportedly missed his step, fell headlong, and hit his head on a sharp object.

“He sustained an injury from the fall and passed out. Before help could reach him or he could be rushed to the hospital, the worst had happened,” the source added.

Until his death, Pastor Ifeoluwa served as the Assistant Provincial Pastor of Ogun Province 5 of the RCCG. He was also a successful entrepreneur, running a thriving printing business.
