CAF Player of the Year

North African football clubs have outclassed clubs in other parts of Africa in the latest club ranking by the African Football Confederation, CAF, with clubs from that region taking all top five positions.

According to the ranking made available to  GreenWhiteGreen GWG, the top Nigerian club among the 60 clubs in the list was Enyimba FC which came in at the 18th position. The other two Nigerian teams in the ranking were Enugu Rangers (40) and Lobi Stars (46).

The first five teams ranked in the list were Al-Ahly of Egypt, Esperance (Tunisia), Wyadad (Morocco), Raja (Morocco) and Zamalek (Egypt).

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the poor ranking of Nigerian football clubs by CAF is also reflected in the consideration of the standard of officiating of the game in Nigeria. The poor standard came to bear with no Nigerian referee taking a central role in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON tournament even when ladies from other less fancied African countries have been so paraded.
