Ronaldo’s Goal Drought Reaches New Record

Ronaldo goal drought

Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw with Burnley on Tuesday night as they dropped to 5th on the Premier League table with some of the team’s top players like Cristiano Ronaldo unable to stem the drift with the top player now haunted by a goal drought.

Relegation threatened Burnley got a deserved point out of the game which United should have killed off earlier in the first half.

VAR plus referee Mike Dean denied United two goals in the first half, but they went into the break with a 1-0 lead via Paul Pogba. Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford failed to convert some decent chances in the first half, and that came back to hunt them when Jay Rodriguez burst through the defence to level the scores.

It was another disappointing outing for the Red Devils as they played out a 1-1 draw. Their inconsistency continues to dampen their hopes of a top four finish, falling a place behind 4th placed West Ham.

A more disappointed figure will be Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese was dropped from the starting line up as fans claimed he was ‘part of the problem’ of the club’s recent erratic run. Ralf Ragnick turned to the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner in the second half to bring up the goods for his side, but Ronaldo failed to find the back of the net for the 5th consecutive game in a row.

This barren run is the longest goal drought Ronaldo has ever embarked on after going four games without scoring before now at his time in Italy with Juventus.
