Obiano Is A Good Man, We Won’t Fight – Soludo
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has hailed his predecessor, Chief Willie Obiano as a good and honourable man for keeping to their 2016 political agreement and said that he does not expect any manner of conflict with him in the future.
Speaking in an interview, the governor also described the brawl between Ebele Obiano and Bianca Ojukwu as a comic relief.
Governor Soludo spoke in an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday.
“Chief Willie Obiano is a good man, and I will say this over and over again, he is an honourable man. What is rare in Nigeria today is that people don’t keep their words.
“We met in August, September, met in October and in November 2016 and accepted his proposal for us to work together politically. In 2017 I did everything to keep my own part of it and many people did not expect him just in the usual Nigerian way of things that he will keep his own part, but he did.
“For me, that is really historic and I don’t take that for granted, because it is very easy for people to walk away, but he didn’t, he loves Anambra,” Soludo said in asserting the good qualities of his predecessor, Obiano.
Speaking on the former governor’s efforts, he said:
“He did his own best to the best of his ability and thank God this is APGA we are on continuity and will continue with the strong foundations he laid and where we think that it didn’t work well, our job is to make amendments and continue the trajectory.”
On the prospect of a conflict between the two of them, he said:
“What often leads to the kind of friction that I see is when people leave office that they have difficulty leaving, they leave and still want to be the ones calling the shots and determining who will get what and what. But he is not that kind of fellow. He has continually assured on that, so I don’t see what lies for friction and all that.
“I will be eternally grateful to him and to Anambra people for him being an honourable person and also, a leader also.”
The new Anambra governor also flayed the leaked video of the former governor undergoing interrogation and said that he was entitled to a minimum degree of dignity.
“He is entitled to a minimum degree of dignity. If you say he did something, investigate and not humiliate him.”
Soludo also dismissed fears of a conflict with his deputy saying that as governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank that he worked with four deputy governors without conflict.
