Sale Of Mavin Records To Spotify Was April Fool Joke – Don Jazzy
Mavin Records owner, Don Jazzy, has debunked news that spread at the weekend that he had sold the music label to Spotify.
On April 2, 2022, the rumour spread with speed on social media, led by trolls and fun seekers.
The news was headlined, ‘Spotify acquires MAVIN Holdings for $70m.‘, reported in a tweet by the Head of Content, NOTJUSTOK, Ovie Ofugara.

However, Don Jazzy in his recent tweet revealed that the tweet was only an April Fool’s joke.
According to the label boss, people only read news headlines so they would not even bother to check the content, hence why they would not realise it is a joke.
He wrote; “Bro people only read headlines. So they won’t know this was your APRIL FOOL” he said of the news of the sale of Mavin Records to Spotify.
Meanwhile, Ugochukwu Favour- Mayor, producer of the controversial Nollywood movie on YouTube, The Priest’s War, otherwise known as ‘The Cathedral’, which caught the attention of the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has revealed why he made the movie, saying “it’s a true life story that needs to be documented.”
