Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has won the Exceptional Achievement Award at the Laureus Sports Ceremony. Italy were also named Team of the Year at the event on Sunday.

The striker was invested with the honor a day after he assisted Bayern Munich with getting the Bundesliga title with a goal in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Der Klassiker.

The Poland international has been compensated for his unimaginable efforts for Bayern Munich lately, having scored 41 goals in the Bundesliga last season and 48 across all competitions, also breaking Gerd Muller’s record for most goals scored in a single Bundesliga season (41).

Lewandowski has been a phenomenon this season, having previously paired his count from last season across all competitions, with 33 of his goals coming in the German Bundesliga as Bayern got a tenth consecutive title at the end of the week.

Lewandowski won The Best FIFA Men’s Player Award for his endeavors in 2021 and he has now followed that up with one more prize for his exhibitions on the field and his work as a UNICEF representative.

In the wake of winning the Laureus Sports grant for Extraordinary Accomplishment, Lewandowski said: “Professional sport is a great passion and joy, but not only fun. Responsibility comes with success, especially these days when innocent people in Ukraine are dying. There is no sport without peace.”
