The Nigeria and Kenya Governements were condemned for the arrest, torture and continued detention of Kanu without due process. The Buhari administration was also directed to pay the IPOB leader adequate compensation for the arbitrary violation of his fundamental human rights.

Kanu is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) after been charged with offences on terrorism.

Reacting to the directives by the United Nations many Nigerians took to the comment section to slam the FG.

However, many others opined that the Federal Government May not release Kanu as directed.
