More Troubles For Plateau APC as Former Chairman, Dabang Leads PDP Campaign Team
The problems in the Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC have been compounded after veteran politician and former state chairman, Chief Letep Dabang was named by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to head the party’s governorship campaign team.
The development according to stakeholders on the plateau has drawn attention to the compounded problems of the APC now faced with fending off a former insider at the head of the attack against it.
GWG reports that Dabang was once regarded as the father of the APC in Plateau State and served as political strategist for Governor Simon Lalong until they fell apart not too long ago. Some sources claimed that Lalong sought to walk out of the shadows of the veteran politician leading to the serial political conflicts between the two men that forced Dabang out of office.
He defected to the PDP earlier this year with an apology to the people on the plateau for bringing suffering on them in the form of the APC.
The announcement of Dabang as the director-general of the PDP Governorship Campaign team was made known in a statement issued by the Mr John Akans, the Publicity Secretary, in Jos.
According to him, the party’s State Chairman, Mr Christopher Hassan, would inaugurate the campaign team soon.
GWG reports that Dabang was a former chairman of Pankshin Local Government, before he became the state chairman of the APC.
The emergence of Dabang as the campaign manager to the PDP flag bearer, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang follows other crises in the Plateau State chapter of the APC including the court battle over the governorship primaries.
