GWG reports that amidst the lingering strike, the Deputy Executive Secretary, Administration of the NUC, Chris Maiyaki, in a latter addressed to all vice-chancellors, urged qualified students to grab an initiative of the government of the United Kingdom to study abroad.

According to the letter, the British High Commission announced the call for applications for the scholarships to study in the UK, which opened on 2nd August 2022 and closes on 1 November 2022.

“The scholarships are fully funded to individuals from any background who meet the required  skills and commitment necessary to bring about positive change,” the memo on a scholarship programme from the NUC directed at helping students escape the damages of the ASUU strike following the failure of the FG and the union to come to an agreement.

Maiyaki urged the Vice-Chancellors to as a matter of urgency ensure the wide circulation of the scholarships application in their various universities.

However, the FG’s suggestion did not settle well with Nigerians as many frowned at it.

@nnamego1: How does this make sense? So the solution to ASUU strike is for people to travel out? What happens to families that cant afford it? How do you develop a country when you keep losing your youths to other countries? Is there something else in these people’s head in place of brain?

@tope_femi: What a shameful statement from FG. Its simply means they can’t do anything about our education. IT IS FINISHED! just like what Jesus said.

@jayneeorduson: Apply for scholarship with what degree ?

I should leave my 4 years to start afresh when I could be starting MsC? Rubbish!

@kelvintrills: Omo this update raw?… certain statements from FG keep making me laugh ..

@cosmos_balogun: Imagine FG Dey urge students to apply for Uk scholarship meanwhile we have universities here, they know very well d country is finished and they aren’t planning to put an end to d strike. Nigeria is finished?

@jamie08831566: The labor of our heroes past… maybe they shouldn’t have fought for independence cuz we’re still fucking depending on them. Smh
