Atiku Abubakar was on Thursday night grabbing what looked like the last of hope for peace in the face of the crisis between the PDP leadership and the group of five governors aligned to Nyesom Wike who have described themselves as the Integrity Group.

Atiku in a statement issued on his behalf by his media aide, Paul Ibe welcomed the reports in the media space quoting the Wike aligned governors as hopeful for a peaceful resolution of their dispute with the official leadership of the party as led by the national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

GWG.NG reports that the Wike group comprising five governors with the Rivers State governor inclusive have laid their minimum demand as the resignation of Ayu.

However, at the end of a meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State earlier in the week, Wike had said that the group had not closed the door of peace.

Reacting, Atiku Abubakar expressed his commitment to a negotiation that will resolve the crisis of confidence and pave the way  for peace and a much stronger and united PDP.

The former Vice President of Nigeria, noted that never at any time of the differences that has ensued has the doors been shut to Governor Wike and his group.

He enjoins every leader of the party and their supporters irrespective of their leanings to be open-minded and support the process of resolution of the extant issues.

GWG.NG reports that the peace offer from the Wike camp could mean useful to the Atiku camp in the face of past shut doors to settle the PDP crisis.
